Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Giving information about this, Sadanand Gowda said that the Pharmaceutical Department (Pharmaceutical Department) is preparing such a guideline through which three medicine parks will be built in the country soon and 4 medical equipment parks will be built. The states in which these parks will be built are also being considered.
Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal in New Delhi met Sadanand Gowda and gave him a letter of request to set up such a park in Bathinda in Punjab. Punjab Finance Minister said that Bathinda has good connectivity, water and land availability and some big pharmaceutical companies already approved by USFDA and pharma institutes like NIPER, IISER, AIIMS are present here in the state.
The Union
Cabinet has approved the plan to build three Medicine Parks and four Medical
Equipment Parks on 12 March 2020 to promote the production of important APIs /
KSMs and Medical Devices in the country.
Under this
scheme, the Government of India will give a maximum grant of Rs.1000 crore to
state governments for building a medicine parse and Rs.100 crore for building
an equipment park. Apart from this, the Government of India has also announced
a Productivity Linked Incentive Scheme to promote the production of Starting
Materials / Drug Intermediates / APIs and Medical Devices across the country.
About 13,760 crore rupees will be spent on these schemes. The plan to promote
the medical park will lead to extra production of medicines worth about Rs
46,400 crore and the medical equipment park will increase the production of
medical equipment by about Rs 68,437 crore. Due to these schemes, youth will
get work on a large scale.
